Making Sawdust (12 minutes)

Santo Longo, a pathologist, has been my friend for seventeen years and through all that time he's been a passionate woodworker, as he has been for almost all of his life. A few years ago, when he retired from his work as a pathologist, his avocation for woodwork became his vocation. He moved his tools into a new, larger shop, bought more equipment, and created a torrent of furniture and casework for his own house, his friends' houses, and local businesses.

I was intrigued by the intensity of his love of wookworking and I asked him where the passion came from. This film tells the story he told me and it shows how his passion has affected many lives. The story begins on a Christmas morning more than sixty years ago.
